Electrolux AB is closing a plant in El Paso that includes plastics injection molding operations.
Vacuum cleaner assembly work in El Paso will shift to a plant in nearby Ciudad Juarez, Mexico. The company will outsource molding currently handled in El Paso, said spokesman Tony Evans.
Electrolux is negotiating with buyers for the plastics operation, he said.
The Stockholm, Sweden-based company announced the closure in conjunction with its second-quarter earnings statement on July 16. The firm added that it will introduce more lower-priced products that will be manufactured in low-cost locations.
Electrolux brands include Fridgidaire and Kelvinator.
