Akron-based Medkeff-Nye Co. has introduced a small laboratory-sized rotational molding machine called the Roto-Sampler, a single-arm model with a 15-inch swing.
The benchtop rotomolder measures 6 feet long by 3 feet wide and 3 feet high. The mold moves from the electrically heated oven to a chamber that cools using air driven by a small fan and water from a spray nozzle.
The Roto-Lab machines have a touch-sensitive control screen.
Medkeff-Nye also makes other, larger lab rotomolding machines under the Roto-Lab series, with swings of 22 inches, 30 inches and 40 inches.
President Normand Madgar said rotomolding companies can mold small samples to test incoming resin for flow, color, part strength and other qualities.
In addition to the lab machines, Medkeff-Nye builds full-size machines. The company also rebuilds arms and can build spare parts.
