RJG Inc. has released a mold identifier — model ID/LX1-S — that mounts to the mold so the tool can use the features of RJG's eDart System for mold identifying and job starts.
The unit can be mounted on either the moving or stationary mold half. It recognizes each mold as it is placed into an injection press. The mold identifier gets power and communications through a micro-connector that links it to the eDart.
If a mold does not have Lynx cavity-pressure sensor, the mold identifier allows eDart to ensure that the right mold is in place before a job runs. That offers a safeguard if an operator forgets to select the correct mold when starting a new job. The operator also does not have to select templates and setup data manually, said RJG of Traverse City, Mich.
Another new product from RJG is the Lynx delta pressure sensor, which can be mounted on the machine or the mold. The sensor measures the difference in cool-ant pressure between the mold inlet and outlet, giving information about the part cooling capability and consistency provided by the cooling system. Alarms can be set that allow problems to be detected in cooling lines, such as blockages or line failures.
