Advanced Drainage Systems Inc. of Hilliard, Ohio, will add a new injection molding production area to its facility in Hamilton.
The maker of large-diameter high density polyethylene pipe and fittings announced the move July 27 to local officials in Butler County, after considering other states for a possible move. Local officials provided incentives, such as $400,000 in grants.
``We were able to work with them,'' said Chuck Furmon, president of the Butler County Board of Commissioners. ADS employs 180 at the site. According to an article in the Hamilton Journal-News, ADS had leased the site since 1990 but purchased it in early July for $2.8 million. The expansion and improvements will happen in two phases. Phase II may include expanding two buildings by 22,300 square feet with a new pipe storage area.
ADS President Joe Chlapaty declined comment.
According to Plastics News estimates, ADS operates 20 North American extrusion plants with $431 million in estimated pipe sales.
