ECUBLENS, SWITZERLAND (Aug. 30, 9 a.m. EDT) — Maillefer SA will show extruders how to make cross-linked polyethylene heating and plumbing pipe at its K 2004 booth.
The Ecublens-based machinery manufacturer said the cross-linked PE, known as PEX, uses infrared ovens for in-line curing. The process saves money by eliminating the step of hot baths or saunas, according to Maillefer. Rounding out the product line is an aluminum forming and welding station to make composite heating pipe.
The company will show a new MEH extruder, which boasts high output. Visitors also can see a triple-layer extrusion head.
Other new equipment includes fully automatic dual coiling machines for flexible and semi-rigid tubes and pipes.
Maillefer will run an MWB 1300 at the K show, demonstrating an automated quick setup for changing coil sizes. Other features include high-speed tube-to-tube coiling and automatic coil strapping.
