Vision Plastics Inc. of Delavan is in expansion mode once again.
The custom injection molder, in production since 1997, is adding three machines to its 14-press stable - a Sumitomo 100-tonner, a 170-ton Van Dorn Demag and a 150-ton Gluco - to boost its insert molding operations.
``I primarily looked at it because it was made in America,'' Vice President Ray Schilz said of the Gluco machine.
``Our main growth has been in our insert molding. We're still here. Anymore, that in and of itself is quite an accomplishment. It's sad to see all the companies here today, gone tomorrow.''
In 2001, Vision began a proprietary process: injection molding of liquid PVC. The company uses the process for automotive customers, Schilz said.
By early 2005, Vision will be ready for an expansion of its 20,000-square-foot facility. It now operates with 24 full-time employees, up from 18 in 2003.
