Addicell Additive GmbH of Ellerbeck, Germany, has purchased an extrusion line from Berstorff GmbH to make chemical blowing agents in the form of micro-pellets.
Berstorff developed a screw for blowing agents as part of the job.
Before the emergence of micro-pellets for blowing agents, they were made from powderlike compounds or, to avoid dust generation, agglomerates.
Berstorff of Hannover, Germany, was the main contractor on the project. The system includes a gravimetric dosing system for up to three components, one of Berstorff's ZE 50A UTX twin-screw extruders and an underwater pelletizer.
“With micro-pellets, we remove the last traces of dust from our customers' production proc-esses,” said Rainer Wust, Addicel's chief executive officer.
