End-of-arm tooling maker SAS Automation Ltd. developed the DX robotic gripper platform to handle heavy, bulky parts.
The frame profile platform is D-shaped. It has six to eight sides for mounting the mating robotic components, two more than the traditional square or rectangular shapes.
Also, two sides are set at opposite, 45-degree angles, allowing for greater flexibility in the angle of the mountings.
The DX profile also allows for back-to-back mounting of the D-shaped profile, to create a round, double-D setup.
From the main boom mounted to the robotic arm, the flats of the profile can be rotated to allow for cross-frame mounting configurations.
In the boom setup, eight mounting sides are possible, with four on 45-degree angles.
All sides have X nut channels that accept the full line of SAS gripper components.
SAS is headquartered in Xenia, Ohio.
