Conair Group sure has some groovy rollers.
Conair's new film-trim feeding system for high-speed, machine-side granulators boasts feed rollers with a grooved surface. The drive and pressure rollers have grooves running around the circumference and intermeshing so the peak of a groove on one roller fits into the trough of the other roller. The rollers themselves never actually touch, so wear is reduced, but the efficient feeding of trim scrap or scrap film rolls is not affected because the fit between the grooves is close enough so that the film is stretched tight and gripped for positive feeding.
This design eliminates the need for the dancer mechanism and electronic speed controls that complicate such systems, said Pittsburgh-based Conair.
Conair said the trim systems can handle material at rates up to 300 feet per minute. The feeding system is available for Conair's CHS series and other granulators.
