PME Fluidtec GmbH will demonstrate water-assisted injection molding at K 2004, as it makes a two-component cooling pipe used on an Opel car model, the Agila.
The Kappel-Grafenhausen-based company supplies control systems for fluid-assisted molding, injectors and evacuators. The firm also does project management of complete production cells.
Since it was founded by Friedrich Westphal in 1999, PME Fluidtec has sold 36 water-assist units, mainly to the automotive industry. The 10-employee company generated 2003 sales of more than 4 million euros ($4.5 million).
For the North American market, PME Fluidtec said it has formed a partnership with Alliance Gas Systems Inc. of Chesterfield Township, Mich., near Mount Clemens.
