Ryton-brand grade set for electronics
HOUSTON - Chevron Phillips Chemical Co. LP of Houston has commercialized a new grade of Ryton-brand polyphenylene sulfide with low flash and out-gas levels for the electronic component market.
The new grade is suitable for desktop and laptop hard-disk-drive connectors in the consumer electronics, digital video recorder and gaming markets, officials said.
The grade ``comprises our best balance of mechanical and process properties in a PPS compound to date,'' said Ryton General Manager Michael McDonnell.
New Nova PE grades target rotomolding
PITTSBURGH - Rotomolding is the target of two new grades of Surpass-brand enhanced polyethylene developed by Nova Chemicals Corp. of Pittsburgh.
The grades combine stiffness, toughness and processability, good part appearance and whiteness, and easy demolding, according to Eric Kelusky, Nova vice president of development for its advanced Sclairtech-brand technology.
One of the new grades is a high-flow version for custom applications, while the other is an ultra-rigid grade designed for industrial applications.
