Randy Blin, former president of Triangle Plastics Inc., received the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Society of Plastics Engineers' Thermoforming Division.
Blin and his father, James L. Blin, ran Independence, Iowa-based Triangle Plastics until it was sold in 1999 to Alltrista Corp.
At the time, the company was one of North America's largest industrial thermoformers, with five plants and sales of $114 million in 1998.
Randy Blin also led the SPE division, serving as chairman in 1997 and 1998 and helping to grow the exhibition side of the division's annual conference into a major event.
Blin chaired the 1996 conference in Fort Mitchell, Ky., when the conference first expanded its exhibition area from a tabletop show to one with larger booths.
Now retired and splitting his time between Iowa and Oklahoma, Blin said at this year's conference, held Sept. 18-21 in Indianapolis, ``Do what you do because you enjoy doing it.''
