DÜSSELDORF, GERMANY (Nov. 17, 4:05 p.m. EST) — Blow mold maker and custom injection molder R&D Tool and Engineering Ltd. has introduced a hot-runner system for single-stage injection stretch blow molding that sales and marketing manager Peter Lloyd said is “streets ahead” of anything else on the market.
Interviewed at K 2004 in Dusseldorf, Lloyd said the Genesis system provides a bigger process window, quicker setup and more control than competing products.
“We've taken the current state of the art and made it more simple,” he said. R&D has patents pending on the design, but Lloyd is unwilling to give details. “It's simpler, so it's easier to copy.”
R&D launched Genesis at NPE 2003 in Chicago, but the product since has been modified to improve flow. It is made at the company's plant in Lee's Summit, Mo. R&D also has manufacturing in Mansfield, England.
R&D specializes in tooling for blow molders, and claims to supply all major PET converters.
