Steve Auvil is a partner and chair of Benesch's intellectual property practice group and a member of the Cleveland-based firm's executive committee. He focuses principally on litigation of intellectual property disputes. He has significant experience in patent, copyright, trademark, trade dress and trade secret litigation, in federal and state courts and the U.S. International Trade Commission.
Auvil received a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Ohio State University in 1988 and J.D. summa cum laude in 1993 from Cleveland State University, Cleveland-Marshall College of Law, where he was an editor of the law review and graduated first in his law school class. In addition, Auvil attended the University of Pennsylvania Law School (1992-93), and received a Master of Laws (LL.M.) degree in trade regulation from New York University School of Law in 1994. He also is an adjunct professor of patent law at Cleveland-Marshall College of Law, and lectures and writes on a wide range of intellectual property topics.
