Pliant Corp., a $900 million maker of film and flexible packaging products, named Harold Bevis its president and chief executive officer in October 2003. He currently also serves on the board of directors at the Schaumburg, Ill.-based firm (www.pliantcorp.com), which employs more than 3,000 in 26 facilities worldwide.
He has more than 20 years of global experience with multiple types of technology-driven manufactured products sold across a full range of sales channels. Bevis joined Pliant from Emerson Electric, where he served as president of Emerson Telecommunications Products, a group of manufacturing companies, beginning in 1998. He led the sale of this group to Emerson while he was president and CEO of Jordan Telecommunication Products Inc., a maker of non-proprietary communications products.
Prior to that, Bevis served as senior VP and general manager of General Cable, a large, vertically integrated domestic manufacturer of wire and cable products supplying such firms as Home Depot, True Value Hardware, Rexel and Graybar. He also has worked for General Electric, Booz Allen & Hamilton, and General Dynamics, where he began his career as an engineer.
Bevis holds a B.S. in industrial engineering from Iowa State University and an MBA in marketing from Columbia University in New York.
