John Sooker has spent most of his career in the building products industry. The Nashville, Tenn.-based executive joined Louisiana-Pacific Corp. in 1995 as a product manager in the exterior sidings division and has held management roles of increasing responsibility within LP's plastics business.
The $2.3 billion, publicly traded company (www.lpcorp.com) reported North American extruded-profile sales of nearly $200 million in 2003, with five U.S. plants running about 160 million pounds of PVC and polystyrene through 36 extrusion lines. The firm also is getting increasingly active in the plastic/wood composite market with its WeatherBest product.
Prior to joining LP, Sooker was with Worldmark/AmeriMark Corp. in various financial and marketing roles. He began his career in public accounting with Peat, Marwick, Mitchell and Co., with primary emphasis on mergers and acquisitions within banking and real estate. He holds a bachelor of business administration in accounting from Florida Atlantic University.
