North America's Jyco Sealing Technologies and Japan's Inoac Corp. have formed a joint venture to make thermoplastic vulcanizate automotive seals in China.
Dexter, Mich.-based Jyco will provide technology and design services for the operation in Shanghai, which will operate under the name IJC. Inoac will oversee the manufacture of existing Jyco sealing programs there, including a glass run channel.
``The alliance reflects the fast-growing importance of TPV in the global automotive industry,'' said Jyco President and Chief Executive Officer Sam Jyawook in a Jan. 17 news release. ``It gives Jyco an immediate presence in the Asian market and, by starting with parts already in production in North America, the joint venture quickly brings Inoac to the forefront of TPV sealing technology.''
Jyco produces seals for 100 parts at its Sherbrooke, Quebec, plant. Nagoya, Japan-based Inoac is a $2.6 billion company with operations in 13 countries making parts for the auto, construction, electronics and consumer products industries.
