The more the public knows about recycling, the better it is for Conigliaro Industries Inc.
That's why the company is converting a 5,000-square-foot section of its 90,000-square-foot facility to a retail store and visitors' center.
``It will be a retail presence and a public presence for the company. It is a way for us to offer products for resale and it will be the focal point for our tours,'' said President Greg Conigliaro, who expects the area to be ready by March 1.
He noted that school groups and organizations such as the Cub Scouts have toured the plant regularly in the past and that ``it is always beneficial in passing on the word about recycling.''
Conigliaro already sells recycled-content products through sales representatives and an Internet site. Items include a concrete wall block mixed with recycled plastic aggregate that is used for retaining walls and storage areas. The company also makes packaging fill and a pothole filler.
The company also will recycle items such as surplus building materials, machinery, electronics and other resalable products.
