Leading global plastic profile extruder Deceuninck NV is targeting the huge Russian construction market with a plan to launch a PVC profile plant later this year.
The leased plant will be near Moscow. Hooglede, Belgium-based Deceuninck expects to launch the facility in the first half of this year. The plant will start modestly, perhaps with two lines, according to a spokesman.
Deceuninck has supplied Russian customers with profiles from its plant in Posnan, Poland. The company's sales to Russia rose to 15 million euros ($19 million) in 2004, up 20 percent from 2003. Another incentive for launching a local plant is the high level of import duties being imposed by the Russian government, the spokesman said.
Apart from Moscow, Deceuninck now has sales outlets in the Russian cities of Saint Petersburg, Ekaterinenburg, Novosibirsk, Rostov and Samara.
