Toshiba Machine Co. America of Elk Grove Village, Ill., said its TH450 Scara robot, which operates twice as fast and with more power than its SR424, will be available to U.S. customers in April.
The TH450 reaches composite speeds of 7.33 meters a second and three-axis speeds of 2,000 millimeters per second.
Faster acceleration makes the TH450 well-suited for short-distance movements, Toshiba said.
The robot's payload is 11 pounds, compared with the SR242's payload of 6.6 pounds. Its total arm span is 18 inches.
The TH450 includes a TS2000 controller.
Scara stands for selective compliance assembly robot.
