Engel Machinery Inc. has added a new drive system to its Victory injection presses — with hydraulic clamping and an electric injection unit.
The hybrid Victory Electric presses come in clamping forces of 65-165 tons.
The hydraulic drive uses variable-delivery pumps for energy savings and low noise. Engel said that hydraulic clamping allows the use of hydraulic cores and valve gates that require a separate hydraulic power source on all-electric presses. Also, hydraulics allow full ejector force.
On the injection side, the Victory Electric models have an all-electric injection unit that uses three-phase servo-electric motors for screw rotation and injection. Advantages include parallel machine movements, precision, energy efficiency and low noise emission, said Engel of Guelph, Ontario.
