Berkshire Plastics Network closed its office in October 2003 when it lost state funding, but the organization lives on in skeleton form.
BPN Chairman Carl Olson said the group hopes to establish an interactive Web site later this year.
The Pittsfield, Mass.-based group, which represents plastics companies in western Massachusetts, is doing its best to support training for high schools and molding companies, Olson said. There are about 600 molding machine operators in Berkshire County, and BPN wants a state program to provide safety and quality control training, he added.
The group also has a self-funding apprentice program, although currently there are no apprentices. Olson said the program was hurt when the state raised the licensing fee, and also by a downturn in toolmaking work.
