Vinyl profile extruder U.S. Fence Inc. will invest $18.6 million to expand operations at its primary manufacturing facility in Bulls Gap, Tenn., including $16.2 million for new equipment.
The 103,000-square-foot addition will include an 83,000-square-foot manufacturing plant and an administration building.
The new plant will be constructed by year's end, said Ken Klatt, vice president of operations for the Bulls Gap site. The firm will add six extrusion lines and expand compounding operations. The company now has 25 lines. As many as 300 jobs could be created. It employs 700 at Bulls Gap.
In an April 6 telephone interview, Klatt said U.S. Fence has been in Bulls Gap for three years and now has 200,000 square feet of manufacturing space. The growth of vinyl products has motivated the expansion, he said.
U.S. Fence began in 1977 as Action Sales & Marketing, supplying pre-built wood fence panels to the North American market. It adopted its current name around 1982.
The company also has a manufacturing site in Flint, Mich., and distribution centers in Morristown, Tenn., and Pittston, Pa. It is based in Middleburg Heights, near Cleveland.
