Douglas Halsey, a regional director for the Society of the Plastics Industry Inc., died April 18 from complications of multiple myeloma, a bone-marrow-related cancer. He was 52.
Halsey, who had been active in the plastics industry for more than 20 years, joined SPI in its Chicago office in 1999, where he was director of its Midwest operations and executive director of its Sheet Producers Division.
Before that, he worked as director of plastics industry marketing for East Kentucky Corp., and had a previous stint with SPI.
SPI said Halsey implemented a number of initiatives, including lean manufacturing workshops, worker training and conferences.
Halsey is survived by his wife, Deadra, and 12-year-old son, Zachary.
