Krauss-Maffei Corp. has sold a vinyl window profile extrusion line and a pipe line, the company announced at its Plastics Technology Conference.
The dual-strand window line, which ran profiles at the May 18-19 event, was sold to Chelsea Building Products Inc., based in Oakmont, Pa. The line includes a twin-screw KMD90-32 dual-strand extruder, and a downstream die from Uniplast/Greiner of Meadville, Pa. Inoex LLC of Lancaster, Pa., supplied the gravimetric blender.
The extruder has counter-rotating screws, each with a diameter of 90 millimeters. The machine is one of several KM sizes with a longer processing unit, which gives higher torque, a wider processing window and output range, high melt homogeneity and better wear performance of the screws and barrel, according to the company.
Also at the conference, Krauss-Maffei announced it sold a KMD133-36 twin-screw extruder to PVC pipe maker Diamond Plastics Corp. of Grand Island, Neb. The counter-rotating extruder has a screw diameter of 133mm. It was displayed at the event, but was not running.
