NP Medical Inc., a subsidiary of Nypro Inc., is expanding its proprietary fluid-delivery business by acquiring a line of intravenous filtration products from Millipore Corp. of Billerica, Mass.
NP Medical announced that it had acquired the following Millipore trademarked product lines: IV Express, Nutrivex, Microvex and Epidex. All are filters that can be sold along with the variety of valves made by NP Medical.
The products filter out microorganisms and particles in a variety of medical applications.
The filters will be manufactured in a Nypro complex in Haina, Dominican Republic. NP Medical also has products made in Clinton and Singapore.
NP Medical, founded in 1981, builds a line of intravenous flow-control devices, including needle-free access devices.
In a related development, Nypro is growing rapidly in the Dominican Republic. The Clinton-based company late last year built a second facility to make chronic-care products for Convatec, a unit of Bristol-Meyer Squibb.
