Shortly after launching a Chinese-language weekly newsletter, Plastics News has expanded its editorial staff by hiring a Chinese reporter to work in its Akron headquarters.
Nina Ying Sun joins the newspaper June 15 as a reporter and Asia specialist, after completing dual master's degrees in journalism and international affairs at Ohio University. In June 2003 she earned a bachelor's degree in journalism from Renmin University in Beijing.
Sun has worked as an intern reporter in Hong Kong and Beijing, where she interviewed, among others, China's former vice premier and foreign minister Qian Qichen. She interned in early 2003 at China's largest newspaper, the People's Daily in Beijing, editing the front page of the overseas edition. In fall 2004, Sun also served as a public relations intern at Cisco Systems (China) Networking Technology Pty. Ltd. in Beijing.
In Akron, she will contribute to the weekly newspaper and the new Plastics News China eWeekly newsletter and Web site (www.plasticsnews.com/china), which was launched June 1.
