The Society of the Plastics Industry Inc. has awarded Plastics News exclusive show-daily publishing rights for the triennial NPE exhibition in Chicago next June.
It will be the sixth straight NPE at which the Akron, Ohio-based newspaper has delivered five issues in five days to attendees at North America's largest plastics trade show.
During the show in 2003, Plastics News produced 326 tabloid pages containing 162 stories, more than half of which were reported and written on-site at the McCormick Place show.
SPI, the Washington-based trade association that owns and organizes the show, on June 10 heard competitive bids from industry publishers for various NPE-related publishing rights.
Plastics Technology, owned by Gardner Publications, again won the rights to produce the NPE show directory.
``SPI's decision to appoint [Plastics News and Plastics Technology] is based not just on the quality of their work in 2003, but on the content of their proposals for 2006,'' said Tim Stojka, chairman of NPE 2006 and chief executive officer of Fast Heat Inc.
``We had sent out both projects for bid by a number of companies and made our selection only after careful deliberation.''
