Trenton Plastics Products LLC, a new company planning to blow mold and injection mold automotive and lawn and garden components, is purchasing a plant once owned by Carlisle Tire and Wheel Co.
Trenton, owned by Lockport, Ill.-based mold maker Speedy Tool Inc., is hiring employees and plans to begin full production this fall, according to the Economic Development Partnership of South Carolina.
The company plans to employ about 200 workers in the next two to three years, the development firm said. Robert Long, EDP vice chairman, said the 50,000-square-foot facility in Trenton had been vacant since the end of 2004, when Carlisle Tire consolidated operations at a larger facility in Alabama. The plant had been used for plastics-related purposes for about 20 years and was used for lawn and garden items before being closed.
