Trex Co. Inc. of Winchester will move its headquarters to Dulles, Va., by the end of the year.
The profile extruder has leased 80,000 square feet in Dulles and will move 75-80 jobs there, taking advantage of its proximity to the District of Columbia and Washington Dulles International Airport, spokeswoman Maureen Murray said July 7 by phone. In addition, the new location offers a large skilled labor pool and corporate support services.
``The 350 jobs in manufacturing and research and development will stay in Winchester,'' Murray said. ``Our goal is to move by the end of the year.''
The firm released preliminary second-quarter results June 22, predicting sales of $75 million to $80 million with a net loss of 20-25 cents per diluted share.
Officials cited several factors for that loss, including higher-than-anticipated retail inventory levels, unfavorable weather that delayed the onset of the decking season and a slower-than-expected expansion of its new distribution program with Home Depot Stores Inc.
