Plastics Group of America has launched a new line of reinforced polypropylene compounds with recycled content under the Polifil RC brand name.
The materials allow customers to choose specific resins to meet performance requirements while closely controlling the quality and quantity of recycled material. The new compounds can be used in automotive parts such as dashboard housings, fuse boxes and bumper components, officials with Woonsocket-based Plastics Group said.
``The processing technology for plastics recycling has evolved to the point that some recyclers can produce post-consumer resin that can compete with the performance of virgin resin in many applications,'' Plastics Group President Robert Lebeaux said in a recent news release.
