This 40-foot, polyurethane sculpture towers over the campus in front of the University of Akron's Goodyear Polymer Center in Ohio. The work by artist Dale Chihuly was installed July 19-20 and comprises 80 hollow polymer pieces, weighing 60-80 pounds each, attached to stainless-steel armature. Private contributions paid for the $475,000 sculpture; the weather-resistant PU was donated by Bayer Corp.
