Pioneer Eclipse Corp., which makes commercial floor-cleaning supplies in Sparta, has purchased its second Uniloy UMS 16.D shuttle blow molding machine from Milacron Inc. of Cincinnati.
Pioneer Eclipse, which blow molds its own containers, makes machines in half its factory, and blends and packages floor finishes and cleaning chemicals in the other half.
Pioneer Eclipse has blow molded its primary containers - square, 10-liter jugs with handles - for 12 years on a Uniloy Liberty IS4500 in-line shuttle machine.
David Wooten, chemical manufacturing manager, said the new machine gives Pioneer Eclipse flexibility by providing backup production on its proprietary 10-liter containers, using molds from an existing, older Uniloy machine and being able to mold smaller containers.
Each container has a recessed bottom that allows the handle and spout of one container to nest into the bottom of another container stacked on top.
The double-station UMS 16.D can mold two 10-liter containers per side in each molding cycle.
