Paul Bertsch Sr., the former president of Primex Plastics Corp. and cofounder of B&F Plastics Inc., died of a heart attack in his Richmond apartment on Aug. 9. He was 70.
Bertsch was an immigrant, born in a small town near Rottweil, Germany. He emigrated in 1955. Soon thereafter the U.S. Army drafted him.
After being discharged from the service, he began working at St. Regis Paper Co. and stayed in the plastics industry until his death.
He was president of sheet extruder Primex from 1991-2000, and was executive vice president before that. When he left Primex to found B&F with his son, Paul Bertsch Jr., he was replaced by his second cousin Mike Cramer. B&F is a custom sheet extruder.
He is survived by his wife, Norma, and children Paul Bertsch Jr., Susie Hempel, Linda Molina, Veronica Decker, Maria Roesch and Norma Jean Gustavsen.
