Chevron Phillips Chemical Co. LLC had an explosion and fire at its Borger plant on Aug. 16.
The fire began at 8:45 p.m. in a brine storage disposal tank. It was extinguished by 10:03 p.m. by a Chevron Phillips fire crew without assistance from the fire departments that responded, said spokeswoman Kammy Reece. No one was hurt. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
The plant produces Ryton-brand polyphenylene sulfide, but ``the fire was not in the Ryton manufacturing facility,'' Reece said. At deadline, Reece was unable to say whether the explosion would affect production.
Chevron Phillips is based in The Woodlands, Texas.
