Pail molder E. Hofmann Plastics Canada Inc. has sold one of its two factories in Brampton and bought a larger building in Orangeville, Ontario, with room for expansion.
``The timing was just right for us,'' said President Victor Weiss.
Hofmann purchased the 160,000-square-foot building from Manac Inc., a maker of semi-truck trailers that closed the plant in early 2004.
Weiss said the building sits on a 22-acre site. The extra land for future expansion was a big attraction, he said Aug. 19 by telephone.
Hofmann sold one of its buildings in Brampton. ``It was only 40,000 square feet, and we were growing a little bit faster than that,'' Weiss said.
The company retained a 50,000-square-foot factory building in Brampton.
Hofmann molds plastic pails and lids for food service and the chemical industry on 32 injection presses with clamping forces of 150-600 tons. The highly automated molder employs about 100, Weiss said.
He declined to give sales figures.
Weiss owns the company, along with Paul Kalia and Arun Vinyak.
