Jiangsu Shukang Packing Material Co. Ltd. of Jiangyin, China, has completed an expansion project that started more than two years ago, adding four new Bruckner stretching lines for biaxially oriented polypropylene film.
The company, a subsidiary of Shuangliang Group, did not disclose the amount of the investment.
Bruckner Maschinenbau GmbH of Siegsdorf, Germany, started to install the first twin-screw extrusion line in April 2003. The line, with a working width of 29 feet, began operating in July 2004.
The four lines have a total of 258 million pounds of film capacity per year, said Bruckner spokesman Karlheinz Weinmann.
Weinmann said the four lines together require a minimum of 20-25 workers per shift. Shukang did not provide the number of operators.
The company is producing film for lamination and printing, coextruded film, film that can be metalized, specialty film such as pearlized film, matt film and heat-sealable film.
Shukang supplies customers in China, and it exports to Asian neighbors including India and Bangladesh.
Shuangliang Group also is based in Jiangyin. Its holding company, Shuangliang Air-conditioning Equipment Co. Ltd., reported 2004 sales of 621 million yuan ($77 million) and profit of 113 million yuan ($20 million).
Shukang also uses slitting equipment made by Atlas Converting Equipment plc of Bedford, England.
