Zeon Chemicals LP has added a temperature-resistant, blow moldable thermoplastic vulcanizate to its Zeotherm TPV elastomers product line.
Zeotherm 120-90B can withstand temperatures ranging from minus 104° F to 347° F while retaining softness and flexibility, according to the Louisville, Ky., company. The new elastomer is well-suited for automotive boots, bellows, ducts and similar uses.
Zeon claims the new material allows auto firms to eliminate heat shields that can be specified to protect elastomeric boots and similar products. Zeotherm 120-90B is a cost-effective alternative to silicone and ethylene acrylic rubber boots when temperature demands reach 284° F and higher. High resistance to grease also qualifies the product for demanding vehicle applications.
