Specialty chemicals manufacturer Sartomer Co. Inc. is expanding its Asian operations by forming a new division, hiring David Long as general manager and planning to build a new facility in China.
Long, Sartomer's former vice president of finance and Asia, has moved to Hong Kong and will lead the new Sartomer Asia Division. Previously the firm's Asian activities were coordinated from its headquarters in Exton.
Long has held a variety of jobs at Sartomer's parent company, Paris-based Total SA, including chief executive officer of one of its chemical businesses based in Hong Kong.
Sartomer also announced it will build a new monomer and oligomer manufacturing facility in Nansha, China, that should be complete in 2007. Sartomer currently serves the area through an oligomers plant in Chonju, South Korea, and by importing from Europe and the United States.
The company also formed a trading company, Sartomer Distribution Shanghai, to facilitate importing its products in the Asia-Pacific region.
