Melanie Cook assumed her current post in 2003. She is responsible for driving growth, new technologies, new products, and market promotion for a broad range of segments, including air, rail, marine, bus, recreational vehicles, lawn and garden, personal recreation, automotive aftermarket, agriculture and construction, and bath and spa.
She began her career in 1995 in the Information Management Leadership Program where she specialized in data warehousing and building the information technology infrastructure and processes in Asia. In 1997 she joined GE´s corporate audit staff. As an auditor, she verified GE´s financial reporting systems and led process improvement and e-business consulting activities. Cook remained with the audit staff for five years, with her last position being the executive audit manager for GE Capital Europe. During her tenure in these positions she completed assignments in 11 GE businesses around the world. She then joined GE Plastics in Pittsfield, Mass., as the global marketing director for transportation.
Cook earned a bachelor´s degree in business administration from the University of Florida.
