Doskocil Manufacturing Co. of Arlington is adding to its pet products cache with the purchase of Aspen Pet Products Inc. of Denver.
Terms of the deal, which closed Feb. 1, were not disclosed.
Aspen was owned by Boston-based BancBoston Capital, the private equity arm of FleetBoston Financial Co.
Aspen's plastics-related Booda-brand line includes cat litter boxes and pan liners. The firm employs roughly 150 but outsources molding.
The Denver site, which includes warehouses and offices, will continue to operate as a separate business, Doskocil President Gary Baughman said in a Feb. 3 telephone interview.
``There is no plan to consolidate business or change the management team,'' he said.
Doskocil has been busy on the acquisition front, buying the assets of injection molded Stylette Inc. last year. Doskocil officials moved all the molds to the Arlington facility. During 2005, officials purchased seven new injection molding machines for the Arlington site.
Industry sources indicate Doskocil's sales range between $250 million and $300 million. The firm is majority-owned by private equity firm Westar Capital of Costa Mesa, Calif.
