Flexible Foam Products Inc., based in Spencerville, has greatly expanded its Southern exposure with purchases of former Vitaform Inc. facilities in High Point, N.C., and Tupelo, Miss.
Flexible Foam took over the two facilities in December and January, rehiring the workers and continuing operations, according to John Stepleton, a company spokesman.
The High Point assets were purchased in early January, and all 75 employees were rehired. It is currently producing polyurethane products.
The Tupelo facility was taken over in December and employs 110.
The acquisitions mark continued expansion for Flexible Foam, which took over a fabrication plant in Chattanooga, Tenn., in November 2005. Earlier, in April 2005, the company also opened a facility in Longview, Wash.
Flexible Foam makes polyurethane foam for the furniture, bedding, packaging, floor covering and automotive industries.
Flexible Foam is part of Spencerville-based Ohio Decorated Products Inc.
Vitaform Inc. was formerly owned by British Vita plc, which was taken private in June 2005, by TPG Spring Ltd. and Spring SAS, companies formed with funds from Texas Pacific Group, a venture capital group.
Another facility formerly owned by Vitaform in Greensboro, N.C., is now known as Olympic Products LLC, but the company did not return calls.
