PET blow mold producer R&D Tool and Engineering Ltd. plans to move in July from its site in Mansfield, England, to a facility nearby.
The 25,000-square-foot plant will offer the firm 50 percent more space than its current rented unit, as well as room for a separate development area, it said. The site will have some new ancillary equipment.
``We will have a dedicated area to house development machines - we have this at our U.S. plant but don't have room in our current U.K. plant,'' said Peter Lloyd, sales and marketing manager.
In the past year, the tooling group has extended its sales network. It now has sales agents in Hungary, Turkey and across the Middle East.
``To continue being successful in an increasingly competitive global market ... we need to have first-class manufacturing and development facilities, and the time is right for us to move,'' said Managing Director Alan Tolley. He said the new site will permit R&D to continue growing in Britain and will provide extra space and flexibility for future business growth.
His company operates another European facility, a design and production plant in Povazsk Bystrica, Slovakia.
The toolmaker is a unit of Lee's Summit, Mo.-based R&D Tool and Engineering Co. R&D said it will continue to develop its sales network but has no plans to establish more manufacturing facilities outside the United States and United Kingdom.
R&D's proprietary tools are used in packaging applications in the food and beverage, personal-care and household-products sectors worldwide.
