The Indian PVC pipe market is projected to grow by 15 percent this year, over the 1.54 billion pounds of pipe that was used to replace steel pipe last year, said Ruben Sander, director of Dutch-owned, Ahmedabad, India-based Rollepaal Engineering India Pvt. Ltd.
``It is still a developing market,'' he said at Plastindia 2006 last month in New Delhi.
Rollepaal has been producing PVC pipe-making machines from Ahmedabad since 2002 and has sold 15 machines in India as well as exports to markets in the Middle East, Southeast Asia and Africa.
The company, with ownership in Dedemsvaart, Netherlands, has expansion plans for the 50,000-square-foot Ahmedabad plant, Sander said. He did not provide details.
He noted that big manufacturers in the Indian industry are investing in bigger machines for quality control and production cost savings.
