Nylon Corp. of America has expanded its nylon products lineup with the addition of NanoTuff, a nanocomposite based on clay particles.
The Manchester, N.H., firm claims the new material allows engineers to reduce wall thickness, improve surface appearance and cut weight compared with traditional glass-filled and super-tough nylons.
NanoTuff exhibits excellent processability and low-temperature properties, and can be flexed repeatedly without failure, Nycoa said. Nycoa also has grades with ultrahigh viscosity for blow molding, profile extrusion and thermoforming. Targeted applications include profiles, medical tubing, sporting goods and power-tool housings.
