Plasticolors Inc. has developed pigment dispersions for thermoset resins that reflect infrared light to help keep outdoor surfaces cool.
The Ashtabula, Ohio-based company said infrared light contains 52 percent of sunlight's energy. By proper control of IR-reflecting pigments, surfaces of roofing, decking and buildings can be kept cooler and can last longer.
The new technology is suited to Plasticolors' series of pigment dispersions for thermoset resins, paints and coatings.
