Ferro Corp. has debuted five nonlead stabilizers for wire and cable applications.
The firm's Polymer Additives Division in Independence, Ohio, said the products are designed to perform better, while being more environmentally benign, than other nonlead alternatives.
Therm-Chek 7208P is a calcium-zinc powder for high-temperature cable and automotive wire applications. Another calcium-zinc type, Therm-Chek RC556P, is for general-purpose jacketing and insulation. RC555P can replace lead in THWN and THHN wire and cable. General-purpose stabilizers developed for use in Europe are the new, self-lubricating Therm-Chek 7209 and nonlubricating 914P.
