Blow molders focus on technology

    Blow molding machinery and equipment makers are showcasing key technology during NPE 2006, a unique opportunity to see the process in action.

    ADS SA (Booth N8537): Blow molding machinery for PET bottles with an integrated handle and machines for large and extra-large containers.

    American Jet Stream Inc. (Booth S1180): Distributor of blow molding machinery including extrusion blow equipment.

    W. Amsler Equipment Inc. (Booth E9252): Reheat stretch blow molding machinery and equipment. New polypropylene reheat stretch blow molding machine. New container testing unit for in-line testing of wall thickness and material distribution in bottles.

    Automa North America (Booth S718): Apex 700D continuous extrusion blow molding machine. Also, the debut of the firm's new model NSB 140 injection stretch blow molding machine.

    Bekum America Corp. (Booth S1649): New, twin-station long-stroke machine, model BM-806D, featuring full in-machine deflashing and oriented bottle discharge with up to 10-parison production. Model BM-406D will be running a high-output demonstration of 8-ounce high density polyethylene school milk bottles in tandem, neck-to-neck production. Also, introducing coextrusion technology with BA-14 Co-Ex System, a single-sided BA-14 that will be running a small-engine fuel tank in six-layer HDPE/ethylene vinyl alcohol structure using a six-extruder package.

    Central Machinery & Plastic Products (Booth N5093): Continuous extrusion blow molding machinery and accumulator blow molding machinery. New products for North America include blow molding machines with in-mold labeling and angular blow molding attachments, and bottle conveyor systems.

    Davis Standard LLC (Booth N5107): Blow molding head with new 3DX deformable die ring technology and a MACO 6500 RS control system.

    Dekuma GmbH (Booth E9940): Maker of continuous extrusion blow molding machines, single- and double-station.

    FGM Systems Inc. (Booth S1309): Manufacturer of extrusion blow molds and tooling, offering extrusion blow molding sampling and development, turnkey packages for blow molding, and blow molding machine sales and service. FGM also is a distributor for Ossberger, Uniloy Milacron, Aoki and Engel.

    Graham Engineering Corp. (Booth S2938): Extrusion blow molding equipment maker whose line includes a rotary wheel machine producing motor oil containers, and a newly developed high-speed rotary trimmer system for high-volume applications.

    Hallink (Booth E9633): Reheat stretch blow molding machine line.

    Jackson Machinery Inc. (Booth N5066): Four-head shuttle-clamp continuous extrusion blow molding machine.

    Kautex Machines Inc. (Booth S1825): KCC-series shuttle blow molding machines for the production of bottles, canisters and small industrial products. Machines available in single-station design, and some in double-station, with up to two times six cavities. On display: a KCC 20D double-station shuttle blow molding machine, equipped with a WVP 140 dual-parison head with a center distance of 270mm, producing a 1-gallon round-handleware bottle, with output of 1,000 bottles per hour.

    Moldspec Inc. (Booth E9249): PET mold maker for single-stage and two-step machines. Extrusion blow molds for shuttle, wheel and reciprocating machines.

    Nissei ASB Co. (Booth N5901): All-electric injection stretch blow molding machine, one and a half-stage ISBM with preferential heat control.

    Ossberger GmbH & Co. (Booth S1309): Pressblower injection blow molding machines for production of collapsible tubes, ampoules, boots and bellows for constant velocity joint and steering systems. On display: its injection blow molding model DSE 250, capable of producing constant velocity joint boots, rack-and-pinion boots and shock-absorber bellows.

    Pet All Manufacturing Inc. (Booth N4599): Turnkey solutions including extrusion blow molding, accumulator-head blow molding, reheat stretch blow molding for PET, and injection blow molding. Introducing injection blow molding machine model 125/25.

    Plastimac SpA (Booth S1180): Plastiblow extrusion blow molding machines, including double-sided machine for HDPE containers.

    Proco Machinery Inc. (Booth S785): Propak multipackaging system. A 90-degree transfer mechanism for Robopik Systems in new stand-alone design.

    Sidel Inc. (Booth S1740): New SBO Compact expands Sidel's portfolio of stretch blow molding machines and is available in models equipped with two and four cavities. The SBO Compact is the new entry-level product for the SBO range in the low-output segment of 3,000-7,000 bottles per hour. Featuring a new benchmark in linear design.

    SIG Corpoplast GmbH & Co. KG (Booth N5121): High-speed Blomax Series III machines comprising four to 24 blow molding stations (7,200-43,200 bottles per hour) for standard, relax, hot-fill and preferential heating technology. Series offers total range for products to be filled, preforms, bottles and mold design and energy-savings potential.

    SIG Plasmax GmbH (N5121): Internal barrier coating machines for PET bottles, linear aseptic filling machines. Plasmax 12D internal barrier coating machine with a glass barrier. Asbofill 610 and 710 linear aseptic filling machines for high- and low-acid applications.

    Sipa Plastic Packaging Systems (Booth S570): Range of production machines for PET containers for beverage, food and nonfood applications, including one-step systems, rotary and linear machines. SFL 4 linear blow molding machine is new to U.S. market. SFR 20 offers improved speed of Sipa rotary blow molding machines in the market.

    Techne North America (S1750): Continuous extrusion blow molding machinery. 4000T 660 model with in-machine leak testing and new fast-cooling system. At NPE, the machine will be linked to a new automatic bottle bagging system.

    Uniloy Milacron (Booths S1702, S1309): New technology in blow molding machines aimed at extended shelf life of dairy packaging. UMIB medical injection blow molding machine for manufacturing precision bottles for medical, pharmaceutical and cosmetic products that require tamper-evident or childproof closures. Machines feature a smooth-design magnetic mold-clamping system for the lower die set, carbon-filtered blowing air, stainless-steel core rods and fully electric extraction system and mold area and conveyor enclosed with a pressurized, laminar flow of HEPA-filtered air.

    Also, new UMA 20.SH blow molding machine using advanced parison suction technology to produce elongated and curved three-dimensional shapes virtually flash-free from high-temperature engineering resins. The machine can be equipped for sequential coextrusion of two-material parisons for molding of components with both stiff and flexible sections.

    Also, a UMS 24D shuttle blow molding machine with technologies that include ease-of-use ergonomics in a space-saving machine footprint of 12 feet by 19 feet. The double-station machine features interchangeability with existing molds, with upgrades to tie-barless accessibility, in-machine trimming and labeling and closed-loop position and speed control.

    Wilmington Machinery Inc. (Booth S1118): Showcasing high-speed Small Bottle Series designed for high-speed, high-volume single-serve dairy, food, juice and liquid yogurt applications in containers of 6-15 ounces. Machines can be built with as many as 60 cavities at speeds up to 30,000 bottles per hour.

    Wilmington Series IV rotary blow molding machines feature new system allowing customers to make adjustments to pneumatic functions from the operator interface. The series also allows for larger mold envelope for applications such as food containers, lubricants and detergents.

    Zhangjiagang Huafeng Heavy Duty Equipment Manufacturing Co. Ltd. (Booth N7227): Showcasing blow molding machinery, molds and die heads.
