Profile extruder Railing Dynamics Inc. has diversified into wood-polypropylene composites with the introduction of Novaline.
The Millville, N.J., firm has begun shipping Novaline railings after a 17-year history of extruding vinyl railings and porch products. It claims Novaline, its first wood-containing railing product, can be painted and stained without any special surface preparation.
Railing Dynamics spokeswoman Carol Lyn Groce said her company makes the product, containing 75 percent oriented long-strand wood fiber encased in PP, in the same Millville factory as it makes vinyl profiles. Railing Dynamics rearranged the plant layout to accommodate the new production.
Groce said Novaline's ability to accept coatings makes it more versatile than vinyl railings. Railing Dynamics national sales director Jay Penney said in a news release that Novaline also allows for easy installation.
Railing Dynamics is selling Novaline through U.S. nationwide distributors. It comes in four styles: a white coextruded cap-stock system, two variegated wood tones and an unfinished style designed for painting or staining. Customized accents are available.
