Excelsior Packaging installs cast film line
YONKERS, N.Y. - Excelsior Packaging Group in Yonkers has installed a nine-layer Filmex cast film line from Windmoeller & Hoelscher Corp.
The line has a film width of 106 inches and includes a Filmatic M film winder, officials said in a news release. The Filmex line is a modular cast film line for polypropylene, barrier, stretch and specialty film.
Excelsior Chief Executive Officer Ron Shemesh said he does not anticipate further expansion in Yonkers; however, the firm began manufacturing at the end of May at its new facility in Transylvania County, N.C., near Asheville, where officials expect to make additional investment. During the next few months, it will install three Flexo printing presses at that site, he said.
Composite Products adds new equipment
WINONA, MINN. - Composite Products Inc. has added a new, 4,000-ton compression molding system capable of processing 1,800 pounds of long-fiber thermoplastic per hour and molding parts weighing up to 80 pounds.
The system combines the Winona-based company's in-line compounding capabilities with a new vertical machine from William, White & Co.
CPI already is using the machine to produce LFT running boards for trucks and sport utility vehicles.
The system is housed in a 14,000-square-foot addition that has 40-foot ceilings and a 100,000-pound overhead crane.
